What is the LBC Test?

A Pap test variation that uses a liquid-based method to collect and process cervical cells for detecting precancerous changes, cervical cancer, and HPV infections.

🎯 Purpose of the Test

  • Early detection of cervical cancer
  • Identifies precancerous or abnormal cervical cells
  • Screens for Human Papillomavirus (HPV) infections
  • Provides a more accurate & cleaner sample than conventional Pap smears

📊 Normal Ranges (Results Interpretation)

  • Negative/Normal: No abnormal cells detected
  • Atypical Cells: Minor changes, may require follow-up
  • Low-Grade Lesion (LSIL): Possible early HPV changes
  • High-Grade Lesion (HSIL): Increased risk of cervical cancer
  • Cancerous Cells: Immediate medical intervention required

🔬 How is the Test Done?

  • Cell Collection: Sample taken from the cervix using a soft brush
  • Preservation: Cells suspended in a liquid vial (prevents contamination)
  • Lab Analysis: Sample examined under a microscope for abnormalities

📝 Additional Testing May Include:

  • HPV DNA Test (if abnormal cells are found)
  • Colposcopy & Biopsy (for high-risk cases)
